With the notion of death and grief radically transformed after the World Wars, Poet D.M. Thomas wrote: The idea of mass anonymous death, the thought that so many people could be wiped out for no reason, in some ways threatened one’s own sense of existence, one’s own soul. By letting avoidance hold back grief, we allow mass anonymous death to have no reason, compromising our very own existence.

Venus Favors the Bold attempts to capture the ability to transcendent grief into mourning. Looking at the life and death in the reflective shield of artwork, “we see” our own reflection and survive with a new true self.
